Wrist Watch Maintenance & Safety Guide

Even an ordinary (non-luxury) and easy on the pocket watch tells the right time and date. However, when you have a class, your watch should also have one. Sometimes, people judge your personality with your appearance and your appearance is judged by what you wear. Therefore, the watch you wear reflects what kind of person you are. Though, it is a small machine that cannot be noticed from far in the distance. However, it does get noticed when you extend your hand for a handshake.

Luxury and classy watches are usually expensive. So, you do not want to close your eyes to the maintenance and safety of the watch. If you have purchased expensive watches online in Ireland, here are some helpful watch maintenance and safety tips.

Water Resistant

Even if your watch is advertised and promised to be water resistant, the watch may not be 100% water resistant. There are some degrees of water resistance. For example, 50M 5 bar watch is safe from accidental splashes and swimming. However, the watch will be damaged due to water if you wear while snorkeling or scuba diving, deep sea diving or participating in water sports. A watch with 1000M 100Bar pressure is ideal for scuba diving and deep sea diving.

Remember, the temperature also has an effect on the water resistance of the watch.

High temperatures can create openings by expanding watch seals. Therefore, it is recommended to remove watches before sauna or hot shower. Swimming in sea water can cause a corrosive salt build-up. Therefore, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly after swimming in the sea.

Impact

An impact or a sudden shock can possibly damage the case, crystal, dial or any other part of the watch. The watch may no longer tell you the time and date. You have to fork out for repair. Sometimes, the damage is not visible but the watch stops functioning due to some internal damage. Only a watchmaker can diagnose the watch and tell the remedy.

Magnetic Field

Never expose your watch to magnetic or anything containing magnetic. The magnetic field can make your watch run slowly, fast or even stop it. Therefore, never place your watch on or near speakers, magnetic hooks, computer, cell phone, a permanent magnet or any other thing having a permanent magnet.

Chemicals

Avoid direct contact of cosmetics, detergents, solvents, perfumes or another chemical. This may damage bracelet, leather strap, gaskets, and the case of the watch.

Temperature

Temperature above 60°C and below 0°C has an effect on the water resistance and functionality of the watch. You should also safeguard your watch from sudden and drastic temperature changes and moisture.
